What do you think about plastic pollution?

The TREASURE project, funded by the EU Interreg North Sea, aims to reduce plastic pollution in the environment – specifically in the North Sea – using an interdisciplinary, cross-sectoral, and transnational approach.

In order to bring about a transformation of society as a whole, the above-mentioned approach requires that all stakeholders from politics and administration, business, and civil society who produce, trade, use, recycle, and dispose of plastic products be included in the transformation process. We would like to learn more about the topic of prevention and behavior change in relation to plastic pollution in the North Sea. Therefore, we rely on your opinion and would be very grateful if you could take approximately five minutes to answer the following questions.

This survey is carried out in the framework of the TREASURE project funded by the Interreg North Sea Programme of the European Union.

Your responses to this survey are voluntary and completely confidential.

This survey complies with the GDPR policy of the University of Oldenburg [dsuni@uol.de].

Data Protection:
We operate in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG). As part of this study, we will collect personal data such as gender, age group, or industry affiliation, among others.

We intend to use this data as outlined below: After collection, the data will be analysed by our research team using statistical methods and/or methods of qualitative social research. All data will be treated with strict confidentiality. The personal data will be stored securely and will only be accessible to authorised researchers within the project team.

The publication of the research data and findings (e.g. in academic articles, conference contributions, repositories, etc.) will take place exclusively in anonymised form. Anonymisation means altering personal data in such a way that the individual concerned can no longer be identified, or only with a disproportionate amount of effort. This means that, as a rule, you cannot be identified from the data. However, it cannot be completely ruled out – especially with regard to future technological developments – that there may be some risk of re-identification.

With your consent, the personal data collected in this study will be stored in a trusted archive in accordance with good scientific practice and made available to other researchers for research purposes. Your data will always be treated confidentially and in compliance with data protection laws.

As a data subject within the meaning of the GDPR, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Right to object (Art. 21 GDPR)

To exercise these rights, please contact the responsible authority (see below).

Right to withdraw consent
You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. The lawfulness of the data processing carried out on the basis of the consent up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.

Note: The right to withdraw consent only applies if the processing is based on consent.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection regulations, please contact the Data Protection Officer of the responsible party (see below). Regardless of this, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The supervisory authority responsible for Carl von Ossietzky University is:
The State Commissioner for Data Protection in Lower Saxony,
Prinzenstraße 5,
30159 Hannover.

Explanation of terms:

Anonymisation
As far as the research purpose allows, your data will be anonymised. This means that, for example, your name and other personal characteristics that could be used to identify you are removed from the research data.

Pseudonymisation
When we speak of the "pseudonymised" processing of your data, we mean that the data that could identify you is stored separately from the research data. In the case of pseudonymised data, it is not possible to attribute the research data to a specific person without the use of additional information (e.g. a so-called "key list").
Typically, a pseudonym or identifier is generated for this purpose, which is linked to the identifying data and stored separately under special technical and organisational safeguards, in order to ensure that your identity is particularly well protected.
